Starting a New Year

Important announcements

Welcome back to another year. We ended the year with 87 registered youth and expect to register almost between 80 to 100 youth this year before the end of September.

Please refer to Join Us for details about registering for the 2008-09 Scouting year and the increased registration fees.

2008-09 St. Albert Registration Day was held on Saturday, Aug 10th. If you did not get your application(s) submitted in time for early registration please refer to our "Join Us" pages for details on how to register for the current scouting year.

With the increased registrations, we are going to make some significant changes:

Our Scout Troop regular meetings will be changing to Monday evenings at Bertha Kennedy Elementary School. Leader Jon Taylor will be contacting families of scout aged youth with details for the first regular meeting.
If Cub enrolment reaches levels similar to last year, we may open a second Cub Pack; and
We will run three Beaver Colonies this year.

These changes offer the following advantages:

Sections will be smaller which will provide a better youth to leader ratio,
It will be easier to schedule tours and special activities with smaller Sections,
Parents will have more choices to better match your busy schedules.

To make these changes work, we need additional volunteers. If you can spare the time we would appreciate your consideration to participate in a parent committee or become a leader.
