Registration Day Announced

for 2008-09 Scouting Year

Scouter Greg (our Group Commissioner) welcomes back all beavers, cubs, scouts, and leaders for another fun year.

We hope that you will invite a friend to join. September should see the start of activities with registration, leader meetings and activities to gather everyone back together.

We expect even more youth to join this year, so we will be expanding the number of beaver colonies and cub packs. We need additional leaders so please consider registering as an adult leader or parent volunteer.

Early Registration Day

Scout Groups in St. Albert will be co-hosting an "Early Registration Day" for youth and leaders:

  • Place: St. Albert Centre (NW parking lot)
  • Date: Saturday, August 9th, 2008
  • Time: 10:00 am to 3:00 pm

There will be information table to direct parents to the correct table to register with their respective Group. All you need to bring is your cheque book and unused Group Scout Bucks. We will have blank application forms. This is an important event as we cannot hold regularly scheduled activities until youth and leaders are registered.

And ... while parents are completing application forms, there will also be an air jump attraction for the youth to play in.

Please pass this information on to any parents with you who may be interested in joining. We'll be prepared to answer any questions that prospective parents may have.

Early 2008-09 Fees

Early registration fees for 2008-09 are:

  • Youth - $160
  • Leaders & Parent Volunteers - $0 (fees are paid by Council)
  • Family (3 or more youht) - $370

Early registrations are due in to our Group Registrar by August 15th, 2008. See early registration news for more details.

Submitting an Application

It's really simple:

  • For  youth complete a Youth Application Form and submit it with a post-dated cheque (dated for Aug 15th, 2007) made out to 2nd St. Albert Scout Group for the registration fee and mail it or deliver it to the Group Registrar, Curtis Aikens.

  • For  adult leaders complete the first two pages of the Adult Application for Membership and submit it to the Group Registrar, Curtis Aikens. There are no registration fees for leaders.

  • For  parent volunteers complete the first two pages of the Adult Application for Membership and submit it to the Group Registrar, Curtis Aikens. There are no registration fees for parent volunteers.

When filling out the application form, please indicate which youth Section (Beavers, Cubs, or Scouts) you are volunteering for and select "Other" and indicate "Parent Volunteer". Parent volunteers will become registered adult volunteers with Scouts Canada and will be insured for Scouting activities. All Parent Volunteers must be screened and approved in the same manner as Scout Leaders (includes a reference check of three personal references and a police records check).
