Scout Popcorn

Our official fundraiser for 2007-08

Revised December 10th, 2007

2nd St. Albert Scout Group Committee adopted the guideline to run only one official fundraiser for 2007-08, the Scout Popcorn Campaign.

We Outdid Ourselves
for the Scout Popcorn Campaign

Congratulations to everyone on a very successful Scouts Popcorn sales campaign this year. We totalled over $16,000 in sales for the Group which added approximately $6000 to our Group funds to support program activities.

We urge you to pick up your orders and get them delivered as soon as possible.

Again, congrats on a terrific campaign!

2007 - 08 Campaign

Scout Popcorn is a very important fundraiser as we use it to raise the monies to run our activities, camps and purchase equipment. Without the funds raised from this campaign, we would have to pass along additional costs to families.

Don't registration fees cover operating costs?
No. Registration fees are used to provide funds to pay for leader training, insurance, maintaining Scout camps and properties, run the Scout Shops, and support Council and Area activities. Groups and Sections need to raise funds to support activity costs.

The Scout Popcorn campaign, which runs during the month of October, gives us the opportunity to raise funds to support the fun activities we want to run.

What do we need money for ?
As a Group, we use funds from popcorn sales to:

  • to subsidize fees for camps, tours and museum trips ... in some cases we can pay for all of those costs and the youth get to go to an activity at no additional cost,

  • to pay for our Baden-Powell dinner celebration and annual spring camp,

  • to purchase new equipment or replace worn-out equipment that we use for camps, and

  • leader uniforms.

How much comes back to us ?
For every $1 raised:

There is a some preparation that you can do right now:

  • approximately 40 cents comes back to the Group Committee,

  • approximately 15 cents goes back to the youth's family in the form of "Scout Bucks",

  • approximately 5 cents goes to Scouts Canada to fund national prizes and pay to run the campaign, and

  • the rest goes to the manufacturer.

Prizes

Scouts Canada is offering some really good prizes this year which include cahnces to win a laptop computer, ultimate family campsite, $2500 in Scout Shop gift certificate, backpacks, $60 Future Shop certificate, and $60 Scout Shop gift certificate. See Scout Popcorn Prizes for more details.

We really want to emphasize the importance of this year's Scout Popcorn fundraiser, so the Group Committee is announcing our own incentives ... the youth that sells the most geatest dollar value of Scout popcorn in their section (Colony, Pack or Troop) will receive a $25 gift certificate to take the family to the movies at Grandin Cinemas!

Deadline Date - all order forms and monies must be turned in at your regular meeting in the last week of October.

What if we run out of forms ? - see your Section Leader, or go to the Scout Shop in Edmonton to get additional forms.
