Our Family Ski Trip Was a Blast!
Skiing at Tawatinaw Valley Ski Hill

Health and Fitness is one of the activity focus areas for Monday Night Cubs "Falcon" Pack this year. We held a family skiing trip and extended an invitation to everyone from 2nd St. Albert Scout Group.
Nine families (9 adults and 12 youth) from 2nd St. ALbert Scout Group participated in the family skiing trip to Tawatinaw Valley Ski Hill on Saturday, January 19th, 2008.
All About Tawatinaw Valley Ski HIll
Tawatinaw Valley Alpine and Nordic Centre is one of the best lowland ski areas in Alberta.
Only one hour north of Edmonton, this ski hill spreads over 140 acres and offers 24 downhill runs and over 20 km of scenic cross country ski trails.
Having all sorts of fun
We had a blast and enjoyed the facilities. Although it was a slightly overcast day, the snow conditions were almost perfect and it wasn't too cold. Take a look at our photo gallery ...
We had 9 youth and 2 parents take "Learn to Ski" lessons ... sorry parents ... you don't earn the Skiing badge. Cubs who participated in the "Lean to Ski" lesson received their Skiing Badge on Monday evening, January 28th.

Scouter Gord Welling (Rikki) is our Group Administrator and is a Leader with our Monday "Falcon" Cub Pack. He previously served as a Scouter with Wednesday Night Beavers for four years. Gord is also the webmaster for our website and the Buffalo Plains Area website. He has a passion for the outdoors and photography and enjoys taking youngsters out on hikes and camping trips to explore nature.

Additional Information About Cubs
Welcome to 2nd St. Albert Scout Group. We serve the neighborhoods west of
St. Albert Road and north of the Sturgeon River (see the city map).
We welcome youth and parents from Deer Ridge, Lacombe Park, Lacombe Park Estates, Liberton Terrace Housing Co-op, North Ridge, and Mission.
We have boys and girls programs for:
Beavers (5-7 years old),
Cubs (8-10 years old), and
Scouts (11-13 years old).
