Health and Fitness is one of the activity focus areas for Monday Night Cubs "Falcon" Pack this year. We are planning a family skiing trip and have decided to invite everyone.

On the hill

Monday Night Cubs is hosting a family skiing trip to Tawatinaw Valley Ski Hill on Saturday, January 19th, 2008.

This will be a "family outing" and is open to registered youth (beavers, cubs and scouts), leaders, and family members.

All About Tawatinaw Valley Ski HIll

Tawatinaw Valley Alpine and Nordic Centre is one of the best lowland ski areas in Alberta.

Only one hour north of Edmonton, this ski hill spreads over 140 acres and offers 24 downhill runs and over 20 km of scenic cross country ski trails.

On the hill

For the snowboarder the terrain park has 'hits', 'rails', 'funboxes' and one of the two superpipes found in Alberta. The hill operates on most weekends and holidays throughout the winter season.

On the hill

Tawatinaw offers runs to suit everyone's needs, from novice to advanced in both Alpine and Nordic.

There are three T-Bars and one tow rope which provide access to the Alpine runs and to the Snowboard Park.

Available Facilities

Tawatinaw has a large Chalet which offers a reasonably priced restaurant, changing/rest areas, washroom facilities, and lesson bookings.

A seperate equipment house provides rentals of skiis, poles, helmets, etc.

Group Rates

On the hill

We qualify for group rates provided that we make a single payment for the group when we initially arrive.

We want to advise the staff in advance of how many people will be attending and what we will be purchasing/renting including lessons.

On the hill

This will help to ensure that they have sufficient staff working to handle our requirements.

Learn to Ski

Tawatinaw Valley Ski Hill also offers an excellent "Learn to Ski" package for $30 that includes rental of skiis and poles, tow rope ticket (full-day), and a 60-90 minute lesson. We highly recommend renting a helmet for $5.

On the hill

Cubs who participate in the "Learn to Ski" lesson will qualify for their Skiing Badge.

Tavel Arrangements

The current plan is to meet at a central location in St. Albert at 8:15 am, and depart between 8:30 - 8:45 am. Scouter Gord will collect monies from each family so that he can make the single payment on arrival at the ski hill.

Each family is expected to travel in their own vehicle or they can choose to car pool if they wish. The Scout Group will not be making any travel arangements for this event.

Online Registration

Registrations for this activity are now closed

We need to ask each family who will be attending to register online and indicate what they plan to purchase/rent.
