Scouting Merit Award

July 5, 2007 - Scouter Gord Welling

Sixty Plus Design presented our website with the Scouting Merit Award on July 4th and the Communications Award on July 9th. Our webmaster, Scouter Gord explains about these awards and recent website changes that helped earn this recognition.

The Awards

The Scouting Merit Award and the Communications Award are two of several website awards bestowed by Sixty Plus Design to recognize webmasters and to honor the many site concepts, presentations, and applications available on the web.

Bring on the adventure

Sixty Plus Design awards represent the highest level of creativity and concept and are given to those sites that honour the webmaster's code of ethics. Sixty Plus Design is a leading edge web design company that has been developing websites and web solutions, and offering website awards, since 1995.

In their notification, Lynne Miller from Sixty Plus Design wrote:

I thank you for inviting us to visit your web site. It exudes excellence in content and creativity. It is with great pleasure that we give you our Scouting Award and Communications Award.

So How Did We Earn Them?

Bring on the adventure

I think that we can attribute our success to three key factors:

  • Our recent website makeover really enhanced the look and feel of our site. With changes to the menus we really improved site navigation and the addition of the "Site Search" provided the ability for visitors to search for and find desired content.
  • The dynamic content ... we make a concerted effort to add news and announcements and change the look of the site's home page. The recent addition of Badges & Awards and the RSS feed link which provides interested readers with updates when the site is changed, greatly enhanced the value of our site.
  • The contribution of stories, digital photos, ideas, suggestions, and assistance from parents and Scouters from around the world. Without their valuable input, we could never make our website as good as it is.

Most importantly, this award is for our kids who have fun while actively participating in our Beaver, Cub, and Scout programs. Without them, we wouldn't be here!
