Nature Hike

Revised July 10, 2007

Attention all Wolf Cubs and White Tails!

Our original date, June 17th, was rained out, so we have recheduled for Monday, July 16th, 6:30 - 8:30 pm.
Parents please watch your email for additional details.

Directions

We will be meeting at Red Willow Park - River Lot 56. If you take Boudreau past the RCMP station and turn left onto Sturgeon, follow it to the end and turn left onto Winston Churchill, turn left at the first set of lights into the parking lot. We will be meeting at the change rooms on Monday, July 16th, 6:30 and the hike and activities should last 2 hours.

Who's Invited

As this is part of our summer "Keeping in Touch" program, we can not guarantee sufficient trained leadership for the afternoon. As such, parents will be required to stay and supervise their children through-out (it's a great time to be together).

Essentially, this is a family activity which is open to Cubs and white tail Beavers. Friends and siblings (they have to be able to handle a walk for two hours) are invited, under the same conditions. Please spread the word to others (I'm not particularly sure of this distribution list!)

There will be a sign-in sheet – look for Akela/Gerhard.

What We'll be Doing

We'll be going for a hike and exploring for wild life tracks, and spotting wild animals, birds and insects. We'll be using this opportunity to work on your TRAILCRAFT BADGE and your GREEN STAR.

Please take time to read the information about hiking and trailcraft in your Cub Books (pages 89 - 91). We will not be making first aid/survival kits ... at is for a later date.

What to Wear

Please dress for the weather (rain or shine). Ensure that you wear a hat (especially if it's hot), and ensure that you wear a good set of boots or outdoor sneakers suitable for walking through the woods along the trails.

What to Bring

Bring on the adventure

Bring a small backpack or satchell, a water bottle, a snack, a small notebook, a pencil, sun block and insect repellent. Optional bring a camera and binoculars if you have them. AS ALWAYS Cubs are reminded to review their Cub Book and bring it along should they have additional badge qualifications to have signed-off and/or badges to be awarded.

We want to thank CoolClips.com for the use of their clip art.
