Early Registration Announced
May 1, 2007
We announced early registration last month. We wanted to provide you with some additional details and explain how to submit an early application.
Our Group Registrar, Curtis Aikens, is coordinating the early registration program. If you have additional questions, please contact him.
Registrations are due
It takes time to register everyone into the Scout Management System and confirm payments. To ensure that we meet the Council deadline, we require all youth applications (with payment) be submitted by August 15, 2007. Submissions after August 15th and before August 26th are not guaranteed.
Registrations fees are
Before August 15th, registration fees are:
- Single youth - $145
- Family (3 or more youth) - $310
After the early registration deadline, the 2007-08 regular registration fees are:
- Single youth - $160
- Family (3 or more youth) - $370
Why register early
- Early registration gives us a good indication of who will be returning next year. If we need to open an aditional evening for Cubs or Scouts, then we can make those arrangements and ensure that leaders will be in place.
- It allows leaders and parent volunteers to confirm that they are returning for the coming year.
- You get to save money ... by registering early, you pay the 2007-08 early registration fee of $145.
- You avoid the budget crunch in September when school fees and other fees typically need to be paid.
Submitting an Application
Its really simple:
- For youth complete a Youth Application Form and submit it with a post-dated cheque (dated for Aug 15th, 2007) made out to 2nd St. Albert Scout Group for the registration fee and mail it or deliver it to the Group Registrar, Curtis Aikens.
- For adult leaders complete the first two pages of the Adult Application for Membership and submit it to the Group Registrar, Curtis Aikens. There are no registration fees for leaders.
- For parent volunteers complete the first two pages of the Adult Application for Membership and submit it to the Group Registrar, Curtis Aikens. There are no registration fees for parent volunteers.
When filling out the application form, please indicate which youth Section (Beavers, Cubs, or Scouts) you are volunteering for and select "Other" and indicate "Parent Volunteer". Parent volunteers will become registered adult volunteers with Scouts Canada and will be insured for Scouting activities. All Parent Volunteers must be screened and approved in the same manner as Scout Leaders (includes a reference check of three personal references and a police records check).
