Cub Bike Hike and Campfire

July 18, 2007

Attention all Wolf Cubs and Tenderpads! That's right ... all Whie Tail Beavers are now Tenderpads.

The last cub activity of this summer's "Keeping in Touch" program will be the bike hike and campfire scheduled for Sunday afternoon, August 26th.
Parents please watch your email for additional details.

Outline Plan

This activity will be open to those individuals who want to participate in a bike hike, and to those who cannot participate in a bike hike but want to attend the campfire.

Campfire

One group of Cubs, parents, leaders, siblings and friends are invited to ride their bikes along a portion of the Red Willow Trail to Lion's Park where they will meet up with the other group. As part of the bike hike, we will cover the requirements for the "Cyclist Badge". Please take time to read the information about cycling in your Cub Books (pages 178 - 182).

The second group will meet at Lion's Park and help Akela set up for the campfire and participate is some fun activities while they wait for the biker group.

We will close the afternoon with a weiner roast and treats and an "Centennial Campfire".

Who's Invited

As this is part of our summer "Keeping in Touch" program, we can not guarantee sufficient trained leadership for the afternoon. As such, parents will be required to stay and supervise their children through-out (it's a great time to be together).

Essentially, this is a family activity which is open to Cubs and Tenderpads (white tail Beavers). Friends and siblings are also invited. Please spread the word to others (I'm not particularly sure of this distribution list!)

There will be a sign-in sheet – look for Akela/Gerhard.

What to Wear

Please dress for the weather (rain or shine). Ensure that you wear a hat (especially if it's hot), appropriate safety gear (helmets for bikers) and ensure that you bring a wind breaker in case it gets chilly.

What to Bring

Bring on the adventure

Bring a small backpack or satchell, a water bottle, a snack, a small notebook, a pencil, sun block and insect repellent. Optional bring a camera and binoculars if you have them. AS ALWAYS Cubs are reminded to review their Cub Book and bring it along should they have additional badge qualifications to have signed-off and/or badges to be awarded.

We want to thank CoolClips.com for the use of their clip art.
