2007 Leduc Beaveree

Each year, Scouter Angele Issler and her team host the Council Beaveree, a one-day event that sees Beavers, parents and leaders from Northern Lights Council gather in Leduc for a day of fun.

On Saturday, May 26th, Beavers, leaders and parents from our Tuesday and Wednesday Beaver colonies travelled to Leduc for "Council Beaveree 2007". Meeting at the Leduc Civic Centre Park our group had fun and celebrated our Centennial.

If you have never seen 400+ Beavers gathered in one place at one time, you would get overwhelmed! It was an unbelievable experience.

Once we gathered everyone together and registered, we divided into teams and started at an assigned activity stand. :

• rotated through 5 different activity stands
• enjoyed a lunch
• rotated through another 5 different activity stands, and
• gathered for a small campfire at the end of the day.

At each activity stand the Beavers tackled sensory activities, created crafts, engaged in fun competition with their leaders and much more.

So ... what was there to do?

Each of the activity stands provided something different and fun to do!

Our Beavers got a chance to toss rings, skii across the grass on "Monkey Skis", race each other in potato sacks, and probably the favorite of all ...

      fire off a water rocket!

Even the leaders got a chance to get in on the fun!

Jen Smith (Bubbles) is the Section Leader for Wednesday Night Beavers that runs from Bertha Kennedy School on Larose Drive. Jen has been an active Scouter (leader) for a year. She brings many years of experience from the Guiding program and she completed her First Aid training and Woodbadge Basic course in her first year. Jen is looking forward to a fun and active year with Beavers in 2007 - 08.
